I would like to change the image for a job that has already been created – what do I need to do?

If you want to change the image in a job that has already been created, it is important to first clarify exactly what needs to be changed. In softgarden, there is a crucial distinction between:

  • simply swapping the image

  • changing the layout (switching templates)

Both scenarios have different implications and options.

1. Do you want to swap only the image?

If you simply want to replace the image within the existing layout, the following applies:

The image is part of the layout—not the individual job.

This means:

  • The image belongs to the layout template selected for the job.

  • If you change this image within the layout, it will be updated for all jobs using that layout.

  • Therefore, it is not possible to change the image for just a single job.

2. Should the layout (template) be changed?

If you want to use a different image that is stored in a different layout template, then this is a layout change.

Changing the layout is generally not possible.

This means:

  • An existing job cannot be subsequently converted to a different layout.

  • The layout is fixed when the job is created and cannot be changed.

You can find further information about this here: “Which job information cannot be adjusted subsequently?”

What should you do if you still want to use a different image?

If the desired image is stored in a different layout, there is only one way:

Close old job → copy it → recreate it with the desired layout

The following applies:

  • The applicant profiles in the old job are retained.

  • You can deactivate the posting channels in the old job so that no new applications are received.

  • You continue to use the old job to continue processing existing applicants.

  • The new job is intended solely for publication with the desired layout and image.

This way you don't lose any applicant profiles and can still use the correct layout with the appropriate image.

What if I only want to change the social media preview image?

If you want to change the social media preview image (e.g., for LinkedIn, Facebook, or X), the following applies:

  • The social media preview image is also tied to the layout.

  • It cannot be changed individually for each job.

  • If a layout's preview image needs to be adjusted:

    • For standard layouts: You can change it yourself in the layout editor.

    • For custom layouts: The change must be made via customer support.

Using a unique social media image for each individual job is not technically possible.

You can find more information on this here.

Note on free vs. individually created layouts

There are two types of layouts in softgarden:

Free standard layouts

  • These can be edited independently in the layout editor.

  • Changes affect all jobs that use this layout.

Custom layouts created via customer support

  • These cannot be modified independently.

  • Changes (e.g., replacing the cover image) must be requested through customer support.

  • The reason: Custom layouts are hard-coded and cannot be edited via self-service.
