How Can Mandatory Questions Be Used For the Pre-Qualification of Applicants?

This help article shows how mandatory questions identify suitable applicants at an early stage.

Pre-qualifying applicants using mandatory questions makes it possible to check early in the application process whether they meet the basic requirements for a position.

This facilitates the initial screening and speeds up the recruiting process.

Defining mandatory questions for pre-qualification

1️⃣ Navigate to the "Qualification" tab → "Job Questions" and click on "Add question".

2️⃣ Select an existing library question or click “+ Create new question” to define your own job question.

3️⃣ If you select a question from the library, any subsequent changes can only be made via the "Customization" → "Question Library" settings section.

4️⃣ Toggle the "Pre-qualification" switch to use the question for the pre-selection of applicants.

Important notes on using mandatory questions

✔ Supported question types for pre-qualification: Pre-qualification is available only for the following question types:

  • Yes/No questions

  • Multiple-choice questions (response lists)

✔ Saving to the question library:

  • If you wish to reuse the job-specific question for other positions, activate the "Save to question library" toggle.

✔ Evaluating answers:

Applicant answers can be classified using predefined ratings:

  • Preferred ✅ → Applicant is an ideal fit for the role.

  • Neutral ◽ → Suitability is unclear; further review required.

  • Unsuitable ❌ → Applicant does not meet the minimum requirements.

💡 Tip: Clearly classifying answers saves valuable time during applicant screening and optimizes your recruiting processes.

Viewing & comparing applicant answers

You can view applicant answers directly within the relevant job posting and compare them clearly using filter options.

  • Use the "Preferred," "Neutral," and "Unsuitable" filters to sort applicants based on their ratings.

  • Compare the rated answers of individual applicants easily and efficiently.

  • The structured view allows you to see at a glance which applicants possess the best qualifications for the position.

  • If necessary, you can adjust ratings later to refine your assessment.

💡 Tip: A clear filtering strategy helps identify suitable applicants faster and makes the selection process more efficient.
