Use the "Application Source" field to indicate how applicants originally found the job posting.
In this field, you can enter various channels—such as LinkedIn, Xing, Stepstone, career fairs, email, etc.—as free text to capture the application source more precisely.
Particularly relevant in the following cases:
Manually added applications: When an application is manually added to a job, the entry channel is set to "Manually added" by default. To specify this further, you can record the application's origin in the new field—for example, "Active Sourcing – LinkedIn."
Applications copied to other jobs: When an application is copied to another job, the entry channel remains listed as "Manually added." To provide more detail, you can enter the application's original channel in the new field. If this was already defined prior to copying, it is automatically carried over.
You can find this field directly within an application under the "Application" tab → Personal Data & Application Details → Select "Edit" → Application Details.
How Can the "Application Source" Be Added for Applicants?
1️⃣ You Can Add It Manually:
You can open edit mode within the application details by clicking the corresponding field.
Use existing values from the selection to avoid duplicates and maintain a consistent data structure.
Users who have permission to edit an application and are part of the job team can select the application's source from a drop-down list.
Management of Channels for the “Application Source”
The channels can be managed under the "Customization" → "Application Forms" → "Customize Application Form" settings section.
❗Only users with the "JUST-HIRE ADMINISTRATOR" role can add new application source channels or delete existing ones.
Click the Edit button in the top right corner.
Delete channels:
To delete an existing entry, click the trash can icon next to the relevant channel under "Customize channels for candidate." Finally, click "Save."
Add channels:
To add a new entry, enter the desired channel name in the editor field under "Customize channels for candidate," then press the Enter key or click "Add new channel." Finally, click "Save."
2️⃣ Include the Question About the Origin of the Application in the Application Form
We added the question “How did you find this position?” to your application form so that you can activate it for applications.
To activate: Navigate to the settings area “Individualization” → “Application forms” → “Customize application form”.
You can add the question and set it as optional or mandatory. If the question is configured as visible, applicants can select their answer from a drop-down list.
The selected answer is automatically displayed in the applicant overview in the “Origin of application” field.
❗This setting applies to all job advertisements, so that the question is visible in all application forms when activated.
💡 If you prefer to use an informal tone in your application form, you can check the corresponding box under Settings → "Customization" → "Job Portal" → "Language Options." This automatically switches the wording to the informal "Du" form.
View of the Application Form after the Question Regarding the Source of the Application has Been Activated.
View the Origin of the Application Under “Reports”.
The application origin is now available as an ApplicationSource field in the applicant report. This enables a detailed analysis of which channel applicants used to become aware of the job advertisement.
To access the "ApplicationSource" field: Navigate to: Reports → Snapshots → Applicants
Use the data for a targeted evaluation: ✔ Identify the most effective recruiting channels ✔ Optimize your job posting strategy based on the insights gained ✔ Gain valuable insights into which platforms are particularly relevant for your target group.
