How Do I Mark Applicants as No-Shows, and What Are the Consequences?

In this help article, you will learn how to mark applicants who do not show up for an interview as "no-shows" and what the implications of this status are.

What does "No-Show" mean?

The "No-Show" function allows you to record that a candidate did not attend the scheduled interview.

Benefits:

  • Candidates do not receive automated feedback or evaluation emails.

  • Internal staff do not receive requests to evaluate the interview.

  • Communication remains relevant, and unnecessary notifications are avoided.

When does the no show button appear?

The “Mark as no show” button appears from the start time of the interview:

  • in the interview list in the dashboard

  • in the three-dot menu of the applicant profile

  • not for shared applications

Important: You can mark interviews as a no-show at any time after they start. However, the feedback request will only be suppressed if the marking occurs within 24 hours of the interview date.

Authorization

Access to the no show button is linked to the right to “arrange an interview”. Only users who are allowed to schedule interviews can set the no-show status.

A newly created interview never automatically has a no-show status.

How do I mark an interview as a no-show?

  1. Open the interview overview or the application details.

  2. The button appears once the scheduled start time has been reached.

  3. Click "Mark as no-show".

4. Finally, confirm the security query that the candidate did not show up for the appointment by clicking on the blue “Mark” button.

5. The status is immediately set and made visible.

Note: No‑show status cannot be reversed.

What happens after marking an application as a "no-show"?

  • No internal evaluation emails are triggered.

  • No feedback or Kununu emails are sent to candidates.

  • The case is not included in Kununu exports.

  • The status remains in effect even if the application is subsequently

    • paused,

    • rejected, or

    • resumed.

  • An entry automatically appears in the history: "Marked the application as 'no-show'."

Where is the no-show status displayed?

The status is visible in:

  • Dashboard → Interview

  • Application Overview

  • History in the application

  • Left status bar in the applicant profile

Important note regarding the feedback request

The feedback request is triggered only once for each interview step.

If an interview is marked as a "no-show" or the workflow step is cancelled, the feedback request cannot be triggered later via subsequent appointments or further steps.

To prevent the feedback request from being sent, the "no-show" status must be applied within 24 hours of the scheduled interview time.

Where do I check the feedback query settings?

Under Settings → Individualization → Application processes you can see for each process in which workflow step the feedback query is activated.

If the applicant feedback query is active under Settings → Features → Feedback, the no-show flag must be set within 24 hours, otherwise the review request will be sent automatically.

If you would like to flexibly control which workflow step the feedback query is triggered in, you can find further information in the article on variable workflow step assignments for the feedback query.
