LinkedIn Jobs Stuck in "Processing" Status

This article explains why applications submitted via the LinkedIn interface remain in the ‘Pending’ status and what the reason for this is from LinkedIn’s perspective.

Overview

If a LinkedIn job posting remains in "Processing" status, the most common reason is that LinkedIn has identified the job as a duplicate of an existing posting that was previously scraped from your career page.

To avoid creating duplicate job postings on LinkedIn, Softgarden does not publish these jobs immediately. Instead, the posting is placed into Processing status until the duplicate situation is resolved.

Why Does This Happen?

LinkedIn can automatically scrape jobs from your career page and create postings on its platform independently of Softgarden.

When the same job is later submitted through the Softgarden LinkedIn integration, LinkedIn may determine that the job already exists on the platform and flag it as a duplicate.

In these cases, Softgarden intentionally keeps the newly submitted posting in Processing status to prevent duplicate job advertisements from appearing on LinkedIn.

How Can I Verify That My Job Is Already Online?

To make this process more transparent, Softgarden provides a link to the original LinkedIn job posting that was identified as the duplicate.

You can use this link to verify that:

  • The job is already visible on LinkedIn

  • Candidates can apply to the position

  • No additional action is required unless you want to change how jobs are sourced

Important: Candidate Source Tracking

When LinkedIn scrapes a job directly from your career page, applications generated through that posting are not attributed to LinkedIn.

Because the original source of the job is your career page, applications will typically be tracked as:

Career Page

instead of:

LinkedIn

This behavior is determined by LinkedIn's scraping mechanism and cannot be influenced by Softgarden.

How to Prevent Duplicate Jobs

The recommended solution is to stop LinkedIn from scraping jobs from your career page and use Softgarden as the single source for job publication.

This provides:

  • More reliable job publication

  • Cleaner source tracking

  • Reduced duplicate detection

  • Better visibility into posting status

  • Consistent reporting for applications

How to Disable LinkedIn Job Scraping

LinkedIn controls scraping settings directly and does not allow ATS providers to manage them on behalf of customers.

To request that LinkedIn stop scraping jobs from your career page, please contact LinkedIn through the following help article:

What Happens After Scraping Is Disabled?

Once LinkedIn has stopped scraping jobs from your career page:

  • New jobs submitted through Softgarden will no longer compete with scraped versions.

  • Duplicate detection issues are significantly reduced.

  • Jobs are less likely to remain in Processing status.

  • Candidate source tracking becomes more accurate.
