The map function—available on both the standard careers page and the Careers Page Pro—displays a job's location based on the stored address. To ensure the position is shown accurately, providing the most precise address possible is crucial.
Why is an exact address important?
The map function uses automatic geocoding.
Incomplete information (e.g., only the city or postcode) can lead to inaccurate markers.
An address that includes the house number ensures the most accurate positioning.
Where does the location information come from?
The location information in the job listings comes exclusively from data provided by Google Maps. This means:
There is no separate free-text field for the map function.
The map automatically uses the address you enter under the "Edit job details" section.
Google Maps interprets this address and generates the map location from it.
How to enter the location correctly
Open the relevant job.
Go to the "Overview" tab and click "Edit" in the "Basic information" section.
Enter the full address, including the house number.
Save the changes.
Important notes on updating after location changes
To ensure the new location data is transmitted correctly, two steps are required after a change:
Open the "Job Boards" tab for the relevant job and update the listing there. This is the only way to transmit the new location data to the job boards.

Maximum orientation: Applicants can immediately see where exactly they would work - including the street and house number.
Better route planning: Navigation tools (Google Maps, public transport apps) can precisely calculate the route to work.
Greater transparency: Companies appear more open and trustworthy when the exact location is visible.
More accurate map display: The marker on the map is in exactly the right place.
More relevant for local applicants: People in the area can immediately assess whether the commute is realistic.
Benefits of a general location (e.g., Berlin, Germany)
Greater discretion: Ideal when the exact location should not be publicly visible (e.g., for confidential roles).
Flexibility across multiple locations: If the job can be performed in various locations or involves remote work, a general description feels less restrictive.
Reduced administrative effort: There is no need to update the exact address every time the work location changes.
Broader target audience: Candidates from the entire region feel addressed, rather than just those from a specific district.
Recommendation for imprecise locations
If you prefer not to disclose an exact location (e.g., for reasons of discretion), it may be advisable to remove the location map from the layout to avoid misunderstandings.
You can disable the map display under:
Settings → Customization → Job Ads
There, you can remove the location map from the layout.
Note regarding custom layouts created by Customer Support
These cannot be modified independently; therefore, any changes must be requested through Customer Support.
The reason: Custom layouts are hard-coded and cannot be edited via self-service.
