Getting started
The softgarden career page is already optimized for search engines and ranks particularly well due to the integrated employer reviews. However, it is important to make some personal settings to achieve optimal results.
In the following guide, we explain the advanced features of the career page and what to consider in technical SEO.
No matter how good the technical SEO is, the meaningful content of your career page is of particular importance.
Modern Job Ads and the New Application Form
The career page generally works with the classic softgarden job ad layout and the standard application form.
For optimal SEO results, however, we recommend activating modern job ads and the new application form, both of which are specially designed with a focus on SEO for the career page.
To do this, open the 'Settings' tab in the dashboard and navigate to 'Job Ads & Application'. Ideally, activate all checkboxes.
Make sure that you have configured the job layouts in the 'Modern Job Ads' tab as you wish.
Google Tracking ID and Meta Pixel ID
To measure the performance of your career page and job postings, you can link Google Analytics or Meta Business Analytics by adding the corresponding IDs.
To do this, open the 'Settings' tab in the dashboard and navigate to 'Analytics'. Enter your Google Tracking ID and/or Meta Pixel ID and then click 'Save'.
Your career page supports the new Google Analytics 4 format.
Career Page → SEO Settings
Your career page is by default pre-configured with the necessary metadata. However, you can customize these parameters as you wish.
In edit mode of your career page or a landing page, click the gear icon at the top right and select the 'SEO' tab.
Page Title for Search Engines
The abbreviation %customer.name% will be converted to your company name after the page is published. However, you can also manually replace this abbreviation with a different spelling of the company name.Meta Description
The meta description should match the content of the page. The abbreviation %job.qty% indicates the number of open positions and is automatically updated by the system. Keywords
Enter the keywords that best match the content of your career page. This entry is optional and is no longer strictly required by Google.Twitter Username
Preview Image for Social Media
When someone shares the link to your career page, e.g., on social media, an image is displayed above the title, if available. You should upload this image here.Hide this page in search results
By default, this switch is turned off. This means that your career page can be indexed immediately after publication once a search engine bot visits your page. If you want to prevent this, turn on the switch. However, we do not recommend this as your career page will then be unfindable for search engines. After turning the switch off again, you will have to wait until it is re-indexed.
Career Page → Favicon
A favicon is a small icon used by web browsers to uniquely identify your career page. The favicon is displayed in the browser tab next to the page title, among other places.
Although the favicon has no substantive relevance for SEO, it is often displayed in search engine results and helps to perceive the branding of your company.
We recommend uploading your company's logo in the 'Favicon' tab. Upload the image and then click 'Save'.
It may be necessary to upload a simplified version of your logo as a favicon, e.g., the first letter, as the favicon format with 16x16 pixels is too small for elaborate graphics.
Career Page → Custom Domain
By default, your career page is available under a softgarden domain. To make your career page available on a non-softgarden domain (e.g., www.yourcustomdomain.com), please follow the instructions in the 'Domain' tab.
A custom domain is only relevant for SEO in a special case: If your web server is set up to display the career page through a proxy in a subdirectory (e.g., 'company.com/career'), ask support to enter this domain and path. This is especially important for search engine optimization to ensure the canonical URL of the career page and modern job postings (if enabled) are correctly assigned.
Components → Headlines
Your career page is configured so that no further configuration of the SEO-correct heading structure is necessary.
Please note that for the H1, the page title of your career page (Settings → SEO) is used.
Components → Alt Texts
An alt text (short for alternative text) is a short image description read aloud to blind users by assistive tools such as screen readers instead of the image. Alt texts are an important prerequisite for an accessible internet and SEO.
An alternative text can be optionally added in the following components:
Mosaic

Jobs → SEO Settings
Your job ads are by default pre-configured with the necessary metadata. However, you can customize these parameters as you wish.
In edit mode of your job layouts, click the gear icon at the top right and select the 'SEO' tab.
The following abbreviations are available for the metadata:
%title% → Job title
%customer.name% → Company name (can be manually replaced)
%intro% → Intro text in the meta description; Default: 'We are looking for:'
%workTime% → Work time
%location% → Location
Additionally, you can make the following settings:
Twitter Username
Preview Image for Social Media
When someone shares the link to your career page, e.g., on social media, an image is displayed above the title, if available. You should upload this image here if you want to replace the default image.Hide this page in search results
By default, this switch is turned off. This means that your job ads can be indexed immediately after publication once a search engine bot visits the jobs. If you want to prevent this, turn on the switch. However, we do not recommend this as your jobs will then be unfindable for search engines. After turning the switch off again, you will have to wait until they are re-indexed.
Jobs → Structured Data
Your career page is configured so that your new job postings are automatically sent to Google and then displayed in search results with detailed structured data.
Deactivated and deleted jobs are also immediately captured as such with the help of the career page.
